We arrived at Cape Town, South Africa safely on the 28th of December. Today was our first full day in Cape Town. Our day began with a little tour around the neighborhood we are staying in called the observatory. After our tour we enjoyed a delicious meal from our cook Ivy. Our meal consist of Chacalanka ( I'm not sure if I spelled this right.), Pop( pop is a Xhosa dish ), Chicken wings, and Bread. This was our first South African meal and we all loved it! Lunch time came to an end and our Xhosa lesson began. Ivy taught us a little bit of Xhosa, which is one of the 3 languages South Africans speak.
A trip to the beach was up next. The beach was beautiful! The scenery was great; the water was very clear and behind the beach you can see the mountains. The scenery was not the only thing that made the trip to the beach beautiful and unforgettable. The people at the beach played a big role. There was a mixture of people from all over the world at the beach. To be able to see families relaxing on the sand, children playing in the water, young adults playing volleyball and Cricket, and people sitting on the rocks enjoying the view of the water and the environment, brought a sense of happiness to me. Everything was so peaceful and everyone was just enjoying life. The group and I enjoyed the freezing waters of the Atlantic and the warm sand. After having a great time at the beach, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Touch of Madness .
